California: Jackson Family Wine cuts close to 200 jobs
J

ackson Family Wines, the Californian company based in Sonoma and owner of the Kendall-Jackson brand, has resolved to adopt a drastic redundancy plan in the face of worldwide recession which considerably reduces its commercial performance of its high-end wine range. The plan would affect 170 employees but the family business accepts no obligation to make any announcements on its handling of its human resources and only commented: “We are not putting forward precise figures, but there has been a large reduction in our workforce which affected all departments in our company and which was prompted by the difficult economic conditions we find ourselves in”.

Analysts predict that this massive redundancy plan is the first of a series to come for the whole Californian wine sector.

Foley Wine Group, which bought Sebastiani Vineyards and Winery last December, only listed “a small number” of redundancies under the restructuring banner, and took the name Foley Family Wines.
