ccording to a marketing study recently published by Wine Intelligence, UK consumers still prefer natural cork to other wine closures. For the second year running its results indicate that natural cork is still the leading choice of consumers, followed by synthetics and screw-caps. However, the study also shows that the perception towards screw caps is improving. Reasons cited by brand marketers for the conversion include savings, an effort to reduce cork taint, good press and favourable consumer reaction to alternative stoppers.
