Great Britan: Moët & Chandon launches a sparkling wine with a crown top
T
he Moët & Chandon group (a subsidiary of LVMH) is planning to launch a new brand on the British market this March. The orginality of this Australian sparkling wine is its capsule, which is similar to that of a beer bottle. According to the British press, "Chandon Green Point Z*D" will be sold at a retail price of 12.99 pounds (18.70 euros). Chandon in Australia, where it was launched last year, elaborates this Chardonnay-based offering. If the label isn't the first sparkling wine to sport a crown top, it is the first brand marketed by a Champagne house in the British market with this type of closure. The group believes the use of a crown top will eliminate cork taint woes and seduce new drinkers.
