T
he Chateaux & Terroirs association gathers producers from some of the finest award-winning vineyards in Alsace, acknowledged by French and international critics: Cave des Vignerons de Pfaffenheim, Domaines Dopff Irion (Château de Riquewihr) and les Comtes et Clos du Chateau Isenbourg.
Chateaux & Terroirs will be on the WineAlley stand (7AE20) at Prowein (27 to 29 March 2011). The association's Director of Sales, Patrick Doucet, is looking forward to it.

Do you know the German market and ProWein?
We're based in Alsace, therefore neighbours to Germany and interested in this market which we canvass as such. However, this is the first time in 15 years that we go to ProWein.

What do you expect from your participation in ProWein?

We hope to develop new contacts with the German market, of course. ProWein also represents a great opportunity to meet with our contacts in Northern Europe including Scandinavia, which are present at the show.

What are the benefits of your range that you intend to put forward to wine-buyers visiting Prowein?

We offer a wide range of about 70 references, each produced every vintage. The various vintages on sale also provide our range a real depth, especially for wines of terroir, which require maturing.
Because of this breadth and depth, our range is also broad in terms of price, but this is not our primary aim. The goal is indeed primarily to meet all the needs of all types of markets, ranging from niche products to larger volumes.
In this approach, we wish to remain a human-sized company and work as a small vineyard but on larger scale (we produce four million bottles annually on our two sites).

To what extent do you expect the ProWein fair to enable you to develop your export sales (in the German market and elsewhere)?
40% of our turnover comes from abroad, mainly from Benelux, Scandinavia and Canada. By going to ProWein we first and foremost hope to increase our sales in Northern Europe, i.e. strengthen our presence in the Scandinavian markets. We chose to do ProWein, we consider a rising star among trade shows.
