rench wines appear to be the in thing right now. This new classification of wine, without geographical indication, is supported by new means marketing using the lastest technology, to appeal to a more young and trendy audience. L’Anivn de France, the interprofessional organisation in charge of marketing non-geographically-indicated wines, recently launched a free smartphone application, called ‘‘Vin de France Envies de cépages.’’ It is also available on the website www.vindefrance-cepages.org.
Here you can play games about aromas and flavours of wine and grape varieties. Its a playful guide to different wines, based on the consumer’s mood or what they’re doing or what wines would best accompany their meals. Its light-hearted, humourous tone is a break from the traditional language of wine marketing, and it hopes to simplify the world of wine, making it accessible to new, younger consumers.
