n agreement between the European Union and Australia comes into effect today, prohibiting Australian wine producers from using the ‘Champagne’ and ‘Porto’ names on its labels. The agreement applies to wine destined for the export and domestic Australian markets.

Last year the European Union exported 68 million Euros worth of wine to Australia, whereas the value of Australian exports themselves rose to 643 million Euros.
